Meh.

I realized I still don't have a niche for what I want to do with art. Sure I like to paint. When I went to the museum and saw the contemporary art, I started doubting myself as a professional artist. So I'm moving forward. Going to spend more time making high quality paintings. My last painting turned out better than I imagined, possibly because I spent so much time on it. Now I have to go back and fix all the other ones I just tried to whip up for the sake of having some art.

^^^ My latest painting, Iron Man. My boyfriend is claiming it for his collection of paintings. Acrylic: 18x24.

Flowerhead

I wanted to mix anquity and Murakami. Not quite there yet with the evolution of my idea but I will post my next painting as I draw closer to what I want to accomplish so I can move onto my next idea. I'll post sketches of other ideas I have.

Going to be sewing soon too. I bought beads from the International Gem and Jewelry show, which I will be using for pillows and a table runner. I want my apartment to look like a luxurious hotel but with my budget and creativity infused with it.

In my spare I'm bored and watching television time, I'm crocheting a mindless blanket to use for the winter.

Lichtenstein mixed with Carebear

Ok so my theory is to teach students in a manner to make them interested in art. Cartoons are a love for them so I taught them about artists with the technique and used cartoons as the fuel for the fire.

Boots Chuck Close Inspired

A painting done as a teacher example for using a cartoon character to learn how to draw with seeing and painting with patience.

Skull in Pointillism

I did this during the school year with my students for a lesson about Seurat Pointillism. Crayon on Paper.

Batman for my Boyfriend -- Series finished for now.

So my boyfriend has love for superheroes and comics. What boy doesn't really. He asked me a while ago to make a series for him of 4 favorite heroes. Finally the mission is complete. He pushed me asking for more and more details. I found images of the heroes and made painted reproductions of them with my own interpretations in some areas.

Picture from my living room.

Since I don't have a current picture of most of the new paintings in my apartment, I thought I'd just show one. This is a flowers inspired by Japanese woodblock prints and my fascination with circles.

Work in My Apartment

I haven't been slacking,... just getting a lot of moving and work done without posting it on the internet.

Picture of my pad! Still working on it but not bad looking. Sewd the pillows. Made the paintings, which the Geisha one has been updated since the picture.

Sorry I've been on a hiatus of posting. I've been up to some interior designing of my new place. I will post pictures when it is completed.

Sarah Vaughan

I realized that I like art that is not always the normal favorite. Sarah Vaughan is a lesser known jazz artist to Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald but I like her just the same if not more than them both. Anywho, acrylic on canvas 18x24.

Updates

I've been wanting to make something large scale with crochet but I hadn't fully managed to do something until after finishing school. I wanted something that would spark my creativity. There was a teacher I had who said, "You don't wait to become inspired to do something. You work until you are inspired to something"... and you just keep working. So what I've been doing is a series of projects that will fuel my next real project about there only being one race, which is human. My quilt is for my brother and is about his favorite video games to play growing up. I want to try and include as many characters as possible while still retaining a good composition.

I also did a video using my bunny imposters that I made awhile ago. I think I'm going to put on my list a spoof Art:21 video because I think I want to have a more real take on how I do my art now. It might change my perspective on where I evolved professionally.

Vellum Romance

This artwork is currently in the Gallery labeled Water Closet. (ha ha) I love it though. It's about sweet romance if it wasn't obvious enough. I'm in love with it everytime I look at it because I used a series of sketches to create it.

I made these letters inspired from the Aeropostale Hoodies and sweat pants.... I can't seem to find a nice hoodie to put them on... I want to make it Casual Sweet Lolita.... Um... I cut up my shirt to make one set and used fabric for the other...

Watercolor Romance

I'm still working on my watercolor skills. I just got a new watercolor set but I wanted to mostly used my old watercolors... This was the result. My boyfriend loves this. I was able to capture him better than myself.. surprising...

Tranquil Ice Cream

So my idea to make shrinky dink jewelry turned into a total bust because I was unsure of whether the paper was ink jet printer compatible.... definitely not .... so after sitting there contemplating what to do with the disasters I decided to make transfers with polymer clay.... They worked! And now I'm in love... this necklace is based of a doodle that I did a long time ago.

Talking about Art

Talking about art has a different feeling that making art. It feels sometimes like the idea can be misunderstood by pointing out a selection of particular facts. This is a teacher example I made for my sixth grade lesson for making our own version of Murray Tinkelman's Mechanimals. I loved this idea because the students were able to combine two seperate things that they loved or at least were interested in.

It's definitely fall, one of the best times for designers to showcase pieces they have been working on. I had the great pleasure of attending my friend Amy's Appus Design fall show. Let me tell you so much gorgeousness for my eyes to feast upon and I took some pictures to share with you. :) appusdesign.blogspot.com or appusdesign.com

Cake??

I haven't been thinking about art for myself that isn't dessert or breakfast related besides my stuff for my printmaking class but that was mostly dessert too. I'm working on a little thing right now about cake batter... and my neopolitan scarf is coming along nicely.

I can't wait to use color on this... it should be exciting... I can't seem to figure out what to send my art pen pal yet... I think I will send him sketches.
